Welcome everybody!

For several years, I've been collecting (more like accumulating) different artifacts about our Heuer roots. It probably started with the video interviews my aunt Carolyn conducted with her mother (my grandmother, Selma Rosenberg Heuer) back in the 1980s, and continued in the decades since then as my Dad and his other siblings shared photos, written stories, newspaper clippings, and miscellaneous ancestry research with me and the other relatives. Over time, I had a vague idea I should try to compile everything in one place. A website seemed like the best idea, because it pulls everything together, it's easy to update, and people can get to it from wherever they are.

Once I started to organize it all, it was clear that the best way to display it would be a family tree, with artifacts under each name that pertain to the direct Heuer descendant listed (along with his or her spouse). Because I had to draw the line somewhere, I started with my great-great-grandfather and continued up to my dad's generation. So, I myself and my 30+ Heuer cousins aren't on this tree yet, nor are our kids or grandkids. But the site is designed to support that level of detail in case any of us should decide to get so ambitious in the future. Also, I left off details after the second generation for which I didn't have any artifacts, but you can still see who's who from those generations in the context of the overall tree, and you can always view the 'complete family tree' for more details (appears close to the top of the family tree page).

I hope you enjoy poking around and taking a look at what I've assembled here. Here are a few notes to get you started:

To use the tree, scroll to the name you're interested in, and click the artifacts available under that name. Anything marked with a "bullet" (dot) in front of it should be a clickable link.
All links should open in a separate web browser window. If you're on a Mac computer, you might have to click "Download" each time to make the artifact appear.
If you click to view a video, it might take a few seconds or minutes for the video to appear, depending on your internet connection speed. Most everything else is a PDF file and should open for you right away.
When you're done viewing an artifact, you can close that browser window and continue scrolling through the tree.

Also--I want to hear your feedback! I intend to create a website email address that auto-forwards to both my personal inbox and Carolyn's, but I haven't figured out how to do that just yet; so for now, you can send mail to roberth@studio1312.com and chtonneson@yahoo.com. Is there any inaccurate information (name spelled wrong, incorrect birth order, wrong person listed in a photo caption, etc.)? If so--tell us where you found the error and I'll make sure it gets corrected.
Do you have any artifacts you'd like to add to the site? If so--attach them to your email message along with a description, and we'll follow up if we need any further clarification. We can work with pretty much anything as long as it's in electronic format...photo, video, PDF, etc. and I can help with formatting and adding photo captions as needed.
